Twinkle in your eye!
Everyone has heard the term 'Twinkle in your eye' but Cover Girl has redefined what this means for women. Cover Girl has introduced a new product called Exact Eyelights Mascara that, they say, brightens your eyes 4x. Exact Eyelights has light-reflecting metallics and a hint of tint to bring out your blues, browns, hazels and greens according to their website.
Our first thought was - this I have to see (pun intended). So we picked up a few tubes and a few of the women in the office tried it and, sure enough, the difference was striking. We have never seen eyes so bright. The next time you need to replace your mascara check out this product. It is truly revolutionary - in our eyes (couldn't resist).

Good clean fun!
It's a fact - most kids don't like to take baths and showers. They like playing in the tub but the cleaning part can be a chore. Kimberly Clark - the maker of Huggies - has come out with a line of cleaning products for kids called Huggies Cleanteam. The product line includes a Bubbly Moisturizing Bath Wash, Flushable Moist Wipes, Easy to Use Hand Soap, Disposable Cleansing Cloths, Extra Conditioning Shampoo and more.
Each of the items is associated with a fun cartoon character like Billy Buffalo on the Bath Wash, Sammy Snake on the Shampoo and Freddy Flamingo on the Flushable Moist Wipes. Each of the characters makes cleaning fun. I'm waiting for some of these companies to come out with cartoon characters on products for adults - now those I would buy! Actually it's not so crazy - in Japan, adults can be seen wearing Hello Kitty backpacks and writing with Hello Kitty pens.

Get Steamed!
If you are like many of us you are eating out a lot less lately. Not only does it save you money but it also tends to be better for you. So the big question is - what to make! There are plenty of dishes you can make from scratch on days where you have plenty of time but on the days where you are in a rush the options go down considerably.
We found a line of frozen dinners that can be heated up in the microwave in 10 minutes that are perfect for two - Birdseye Steamfresh Meals. There are six varieties available - Asian Style Chicken Vegetable Medley, Shrimp Alfredo, Grilled Chicken in Roasted Garlic Sauce, Shrimp Pasta Primavera, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Grilled Chicken Marinara. All the meals are meant for two so if you have more mouths to feed you can make multiple bags or serve different things to certain family members which often happens in our house anyway.

Bag one of these!
If you kitchen and pantry are like mine you have plastic bags stuffed all over the place. You can never find one when you need one and when you don't need one they seem to be spilling out everywhere.
Oxo - the kitchen gadget company - has come up with a solution. A stainless-steel solution at that! Their new Good Grips Bag Holder as seen in the photo gives you a convenient place to store plastic bags and find them when you need them. Simply stuff bags in the top and pull them out the sides. There is a removable divider that you can use to keep two different sizes separated. Now that's smart!
You can hang the Oxo Bag Holder on your pantry door or store it in a drawer or on a shelf. It holds about 50 plastic bags. It's great for keeping plastic bags out of reach of children too! The cost? About $20.
Click here to find out more about the Oxo Bag Holder.
While we don't have samples available for you to try click here to have a chance to win one! StartSampling will randomly select one lucky person to win one of these bag holders. It could be you!

Tasty Little Cookies!
You have probably heard of Kashi and the good-for-you cookies they make. Did you know that they now make cookies too? Neither did we - until we found out about TLC Cookies. The TLC doesn't stand for 'tender loving care' like you might think - it stands for 'tasty little cookies'. Clever and yummy!
Kashi's TLC Cookies combine their signature Seven Whole Grain Blend with ingredients such as peanuts, raisins, sunflower seeds, dark chocolate, walnuts, cranberries, flax seeds and coconut. There are three varieties - Happy Trail Mix, Oatmeal Dark Chocolate and Oatmeal Raisin Flax. All are delicious, chewy and have a homemade taste - we've tried them all and they are very good!
You might want to hide these from the kids - they will plow through a bag in no time. Give them the Chips Ahoy cookies you have in the pantry instead!

Bite-Sized Fun!
In our opinion there can never be too many bite-sized snacks and desserts. Just pop them in your mouth and you are good to go. You can even eat them on the go if you want - like on the way home from the supermarket! Sara Lee has come out with a line of individually wrapped bite-sized desserts that come in three varieties - Brownie Bites, Carrot Cake Bites and Cheesecake Bites.
Sound good? Wait, we haven't described them yet! The Brownie Bites are triple chocolate fudge. The Carrot Cake Bites have cream cheese frosting and nuts. The Cheesecake Bites are chocolate dipped. You know what, we are going to wrap up this edition of the newsletter - you are probably grabbing your keys to head to the store anyway!
Enjoy!

Roll with it!
If you have children that have just gone back to school or are about to go back you have probably been thinking about what you are going to put in their lunches or what you are going to have them eat as a snack when they get home from school. If you have ever bought Yogos for your kids you know that they are a yummy snack that they love to eat. Kelloggs has recently come out with a new snack under the Yogos brand called Yogos Rollers which are similar to Fruit by the Foot but have a strip of yogurt down the center of the roll.
Our kids have tried them and they love them! The only problem is that they are a little bit messier than Fruit by the Foot-type snacks because the yogurt stripe is soft and tends to melt in the hot little hands of young children. Other than that minor drawback (kids aren't supposed to be neat and clean all of the time, right?) Yogos Rollers is a great new option for lunches and snacks. You might even enjoy a roll yourself once and awhile!

On the Flipside!
Crackers or pretzels? What sounds good to you? If you have ever had to choose between snacks you know that sometimes you have a taste for crackers and sometimes you have a taste for pretzels. Now you can have both at once! The wonderful elves at Keebler have come out with a new snack called Town House FlipSides. They look like Town House crackers on the one side but when you flip them over they are pretzels. They come in two flavors - original and cheddar.
These are great snacks for kids too! They may be skeptical at first but once they try them they may ask for them every time.

All Natural Fruit Crisps
We found a great new product that may not be available in all stores but we found them at Costco and you can also buy them online – All Natural Fruit Crisps from a company called Brothers All Natural. The folks at Brothers take great fruits like Asian Pears, Fuji Apples, Pineapple, Peaches and Strawberries, slice them up and freeze dry them to remove all the water – creating a crisp! They start out tasting dry but if you chew them slowly they taste like a juicy slice of fruit. Really unique!

It's Bliss!
If you regularly read the Something New newsletter you know that we are big fans of snacks that don’t have a lot of calories and are, at least somewhat, good for you since there are so many really bad options out there. Take a look at the nutrition labels on a lot of the snacks you grab at the convenience store or in the checkout lane at the supermarket and you might be shocked. The fat content, calories, sugar and sodium content will really make you think twice – or three times!

Fresh from the Pouch
If you are like a lot of people who have kids there are a lot of events this time of year - baseball, soccer, softball and more. Seems like every night there isn't time for dinner at home and even when there is time there isn't much. The challenge is feeding your family something healthy that doesn't come out of a Styrofoam container or pizza box.
We found a new line of spaghetti sauces from Ragu called Fresh & Simple. You cook the sauce right in the pouch in just 90 seconds! Just click off the corner, pop in the microwave and pour over noodles. Another time saving feature - one less pot to clean!
Three varieties are available - Traditional Tomato Basil, Tomato Onion and Garlic and Garden Vegetable. Try them all!

Just when you thought Pop-Tarts Splitz couldn't get any yummier Kellogg's introduces Pop-Tarts Splitz which combine two flavors in one Pop-Tart. When we first heard about these we thought they were putting some of each flavor in one box but they have actually combined the flavors in each individual Pop-Tart. Really cool!
